19 Science Writing Opportunities
Warning! No freelancing gigs this week but roles that pay $140k a year
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Science Freelancer.
19 gigs and jobs await you in this newsletter.
Many thanks to di_kiki and Alex D for buying me coffees last week.

Now onto the gigs!
I include many full-time gigs and some roles that are not directly related to writing because these are opportunities for growth.
You may not be able to apply to these opportunities today but look for skills that are in demand and what you can learn to get there.
I am sure you’d learn something new if the job paid $150k-$250k a year.
Type of Gigs this week
Pitch call
JSTOR Daily is looking for pitches (lead time is typically two months)
MIT Tech Review is accepting pitches for July/ August 2025. Theme: POWER. [up to $2 a word]
This newsletter intends to be a large, free-to-all community, with gigs going out once every weekend. But it needs a bit of support to get there.
Last month, I shared my target for 2024 in this post.
Here’s the split up of revenue so far
Coffees bought: $75
Ad earnings: $206
Sponsorship: $28
So, we are still $246 away from the target and we need a Christmas Miracle here.
Many survey respondents suggested that they would click the ads. If all subscribers clicked on the following ad, we could reach the target today.
Do your part.
When Beyoncé Gets Paid, So Could You
JKBX (pronounced “Jukebox”) lets you invest in royalty shares tied to real revenue streams. This isn’t crypto or real estate—it’s the songs people stream, hum, and love every day.
You can potentially earn quarterly income as music royalties flow from platforms like Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok.
What’s unique? Music doesn’t crash. It just plays.
