Science Writing Opportunities
LA Times, Stanford Uni, BioNews, NCUK and others
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Science Freelancer.
25 gigs and jobs await you in this newsletter.
But a friendly reminder first.
Each freelancer is unique and works differently. Some opportunities in this edition may not work for you, but they could be a perfect fit for another freelancer.
So, if you see a gig that is right up someone else’s alley, send this newsletter to your freelancer friend and earn some brownie points.
The Share Button is at the bottom of the newsletter.
And so is a feedback poll to tell me if this newsletter is working for you.
Let’s get straight to the gigs. Since freelancers do not have the same needs and are at different career levels, we have a mixed bag of opportunities here.
Type of Gigs this week

This cannabis startup pioneered “rapid onset” gummies
Most people prefer to smoke cannabis but that isn’t an option if you’re at work or in public.
That’s why we were so excited when we found out about Mood’s new Rapid Onset THC Gummies. They can take effect in as little as 5 minutes without the need for a lighter, lingering smells or any coughing.
Nobody will ever know you’re enjoying some THC.
We recommend you try them out because they offer a 100% money-back guarantee. And for a limited time, you can receive 20% off with code FIRST20.
Pitch Call
IJNET is looking for pitches on how energy transition can help support sustainable development, address inequalities and create jobs
Internship
Sadia Yasmin is looking for voluntary science writers for 6 months.
Before we head to the last section of the newsletter, I thought I would share how I plan to run this newsletter in the future.
Most newsletters usually hide opportunities behind a paywall, which can really hurt freelancers when the chips are down. Paying $5 or $8 a month, just to get a glimpse of an opportunity does not seem fair.
So, I want to run The Science Freelancer on a “Pass-it-On“ model, where freelancers who are doing well chip in. This month, it could be you; next month, it could be someone else.
Not a subscription, no commitment, just whatever you can give now.
