X Science Writing Opportunities

How you can access them is changing.

Welcome to this very special edition of the newsletter.

Hope you are doing well. Over the past couple of months, this newsletter has suffered though.

I’ve not been able to sit down and draft weekly issues of writing opportunities, and my apologies for that.

But a few weeks ago, a fellow writer and subscriber to this newsletter, Kritika reached out to me over LinkedIn, to know, why the newsletter wasn’t regular. (Thank you, Kritika for that)

She also wanted to connect with newsletter subscribers through the Slack community, which has been a non-starter.

Since I also love seeing your messages, when an opportunity works for you, I gave some serious thought to how I could make this all work without spending scores of hours or $60 a month to send the newsletter and end up making only a few $$ at the end of it.

So, here’s what I am doing.

  • I am scaling back on my expenses for sending this newsletter. This means no fancy polls or surveys to know your preferences, or get access to Ad Network to make some money. This also means no more advertisements that you could click on to keep the effort afloat.

  • Instead of clearing a huge block of hours closer to the weekend to make the opportunities list, I am going to spend smaller chunks through the week to look for opportunities and send them your way.

  • This won’t be over 3 or 5 emails through the week, but through the community Slack channel, which you can check at your convenience.

  • I can perhaps send a summary email at the end of the week to update you on the opportunities shared. But this will likely be a one-off thing, not a regular feature.

  • Instead of separate fees for the community, I am bundling everything for $3 a month, payable through Buy Me a Coffee.

  • Like earlier, if you have bought me a coffee in the past, you get the first two months free.

  • Even, if you haven’t done so in the past, I am giving all subscribers of this newsletter, a free invite for the first month, when you join the Slack Community through this newsletter. So, JOIN NOW

  • The community lets you connect with other writers for free, where you can share pitch ideas, get some work done (co-working in your time zone), or just share interesting reads with people who really get them.

I have already shared some opportunities in the #opportunities channel this week and will add some more over the weekend.

So, make sure you join the community soon.

See you there,

Ameya
